Top 1: Opening of the meeting and establishment of the quorum

All attendees agreed to have a board meeting today.

All attendees unanimously approved the proposed agenda.

Top 4: Report

Chair and Vice Chair (Jian-Jia and Hsin-Fang)

  1. European Taiwanese Conference for Science and Technology (ETCST) 2025 in Dresden
  • Jian-Jia contacted Prof. Jerónimo Castrillón Mazo (TU Dresden, expert in AI) regarding logistics such as catering and room reservations.
  • Jian-Jia and Kuan-Hsun discussed potential speaker candidates.
  • Hsin-Fang inquired whether holding the event in Dresden is necessary, as TSMC’s presence there is not yet established. Jian-Jia responded that a TSMC representative is expected to attend, and despite current weak ties, holding the conference in Dresden could strengthen local connections.

  • Chih-Jen mentioned Alex Gorge from TSMC as a potential invitee and may extend an invitation.
  1. Program Structure
  • Jian-Jia proposed including an Industry/Academia interview session in the meeting.
  • For the academic side, Jian-Jia suggested inviting Gloria and Zhan-Hong as participants.
  1. Scope of the Conference
  • Hsin-Fang asked whether the conference should focus solely on computer science, AI, and semiconductors. Jian-Jia clarified that the conference will not be limited to specific topics; the content will depend on the invited speakers.
  1. Agenda and Budget
  • Jian-Jia will draft a preliminary agenda and send it to the local host partner.
  • Jian-Jia mentioned that the cost of venue rental and catering in Dresden is still unclear. He will investigate further.
  1. Taiwan Ministry of Education
  • Jian-Jia announced that the Taiwan Ministry of Education will visit Europe for a talent recruitment program, including 12 universities, taking place on Saturday, July 19 at TU Dortmund. The main program runs July at 09:00–14:00.
  • ETAST could organize a CV mentorship session from 15:00–18:00 on after the meeting.
  • The official mentorship program will be held in November at ETH Zurich.
  1. Mentor Program Preparation
  • Zhan-Hong asked about preparation for the short mentor session and whether participants should bring their CVs.
  • Jian-Jia inquired about the exact date of the November mentorship event at ETH. Chih-Jen and Zhan-Hong are currently unsure. Chih-Jen suggested that it could be held on the weekend of either November 8 or 15.
  1. Website Update
  • Jian-Jia noted that one advisory board member is currently missing from the ETCST website.
  • Kuan-Hsun will address and correct the issue.

 Interview (Podcast) series

Junior Group and Podcast

  • All attendees discussed activities for junior member engagement.
  • Jian-Jia asked Zhan-Hong and Kuan-Hsun to collaborate with Tyra on junior group coordination.
  • Jian-Jia also brought up the idea of launching a podcast and asked Zhan-Hong, Kuan-Hsun, and Hsin-Fang to brainstorm content and audience targeting.

  • The next Executive Board meeting will be held on Thursday, July 3th at 16:00.
  • Kuan-Hsun will write the next protocol.
