Attendees: Tsu-Wei Chen, Kuan-Hsun Chen, Jian-Jia Chen, Chih-Jen Shih, Hsin-Fang Chang, Chia-Ju Yu (Joyce)

Top 1: Opening of the meeting and establishment of the quorum

Everyone agreed to have a board meeting today.

Top 2: Setting of the agenda

All attendee agreed with the agenda.

Top 3: Approval of the protocol of the last Executive Board Meeting

All attendee agreed.

Top 4: Report

➔ Chair and Vice Chair (Jian-Jia and Chih-Jen)

  • Secretary Kuo asked for the financial report of the ETCST 2023 in Zurich.
  • Jian-Jia, Chih-Jen and Tsu-Wei discussed financial matter and documentation of the conference.
  • Conference report is submitted.
  • Chih-Jen and Joyce agreed that the board members, Jian-Jia, Tsu-Wei, Kuan-Hsun, and Hsin-Fang, serving as mentors in the mentor program, deserve to receive minimal financial support from the ETAST. This support includes meal expenses of less than 50 euros for each person.

Mentoring Program

  • The mentor program has received overall great feedback from the participants.
  • Kuan-Hsun mentioned that there are more potential interested parties, but due to the short notice, they are unable to join. We probably could attract more participants if we could advertise the event earlier next time.

➔ Finance (Joyce / Tsu-Wei)

  • Jian-Jia suggests finding a financial professional to handle the financial activities within ETAST.
  • Jian-Jia, Tsu-Wei and Joyce will have an additional meeting to clarify financial matter on 29th Nov..

➔ General officer (Tsu-Wei)

  • Tsu-Wei expressed concerns about complex financial matters.

➔ Web master (Kuan-Hsun)

  • Kuan-Hsun reports that Discord has received a positive response with an increase in participants.
  • Jian-Jia recommends having a Clubhouse on Discord for discussing different topics.

➔ Membership status (Hsin-Fang/ Kuan-Hsun)

  • Kuan-Hsun reported that apart from participants in the mentor program, there are currently no new members.

Top 5: Further Planned Activities 2024

  • Jian-Jia met a researcher from ASML who planned to hold a roundtable in the Netherlands in the field of semiconductors and AI next May or June. Jian-Jia suggested that ETST could be a sponsor or collaborator for the event. The plans will be more concrete by the end of this year.
  • Jian-Jia is currently in Bonn and met Jia-Hsin, who is also interested in organizing a technical forum in French in Paris.
  • Jian-Jia suggests to hold a technical forum next March or April in Berlin.
  • Jian-Jia met someone from Ireland and will discuss with him the potential for holding an event in Ireland supported by ETAST.
  • Hsin-Fang inquired about the professional domain of the upcoming tech forum. Jian-Jia mentioned that the potential forum for next year is not restricted to the professional field; however, local networking will be important.
  • Jian-Jia suggested to Chih-Jen to hold an event in Switzerland, given the positive feedback received from participants in the mentor program, particularly from Swiss students.
  • Jian-Jia plans to expand the size of ETCST and increase its international visibility for next year. The initial idea is to combine a scientific meeting funded by DFG with social networking funded by NSTC.

  • The next Executive Board Meeting will be held on December 16th at 9:00.
  • Chih-Jen will write the next protocol.
